How it works

Run this tool in three short steps.

01

Upload your images

Drop or select one or more JPEG, PNG, or WebP images. The first image loads into the canvas preview.

02

Draw crop area

Drag on the canvas to select your crop region, or choose a preset ratio (1:1, 4:3, 16:9). For multiple files, the same crop is applied to all.

03

Download cropped images

Hit Crop & Download to save your results as PNG, JPEG, or WebP. Processing happens in your browser.

Questions

What people ask before they use this tool.

How does the image cropping work?
You draw a crop rectangle directly on the canvas preview. The tool uses the HTML5 Canvas API to extract exactly the pixels inside your selection. Everything happens in your browser — no data is sent to any server.
Which image formats are supported?
You can crop JPEG, PNG, and WebP images. Choose your preferred output format — PNG (lossless), JPEG, or WebP — with a quality slider for lossy formats.
Can I crop to a specific aspect ratio?
Yes. Choose from preset ratios — Free (any shape), 1:1 (square), 4:3, 16:9, 3:2, or 2:3 (portrait). The crop area automatically snaps to the selected ratio as you drag.
Can I enter exact pixel coordinates?
Yes. Use the X, Y, Width, and Height inputs below the canvas to type precise values. The crop rectangle updates in real time as you type, and dragging updates the inputs too.
Is there a file size or resolution limit?
There is no hard limit since processing happens entirely in your browser. Very large images (50MP+) may be slower on older devices. Use the zoom controls to inspect details on high-resolution images.
Can I crop multiple images at once?
Yes. Select multiple files at once or add more after the first upload. Draw your crop area on the first image — the same crop coordinates are then applied to all files. Each result downloads individually or all at once.
Is my image data private?
Cropping happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Image files are not uploaded to our servers during processing.
Does cropping work on mobile devices?
Yes. Touch-drag to draw the crop rectangle works on all modern mobile browsers. The zoom controls help you navigate large images on smaller screens. Aspect ratio presets are especially useful on mobile.
Can I crop to exact social media dimensions?
Yes. Use the aspect ratio presets (1:1 for Instagram posts, 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails, 4:3 for Facebook) combined with pixel-precise inputs. For exact pixel dimensions, crop here and then use our Image Resizer to set the final size.
How does this compare to Photoshop's crop tool?
Our tool covers the most common crop use cases — free crop, ratio presets, pixel inputs, batch crop — without installing anything. For advanced features like content-aware fill after cropping, you would need Photoshop.
Can I crop and then compress the result?
Yes. Crop first, download, then run the cropped image through our Image Compressor to reduce file size further. You can also choose WebP output format during crop for smaller files.
What happens if my crop area is larger than the image?
The crop is automatically clamped to the image boundaries. You cannot crop beyond the actual image dimensions. The pixel inputs enforce these limits in real time.
Does cropping remove EXIF metadata?
Yes. Canvas-based cropping strips EXIF data including camera info, GPS coordinates, and orientation. This is a privacy benefit if you are sharing photos online.

Coda One's Image Cropper lets you drag to select any area of your image and download the cropped result instantly. Choose from aspect ratio presets (1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2, 2:3) or crop freely. Enter exact pixel coordinates for precision cropping, zoom in for detail work, and export as PNG, JPEG, or WebP with adjustable quality. Processing uses your browser's Canvas API, and image files are not uploaded to our servers during editing.
